So here I am 7 ½ months postpartum and I would have thought that my breasts would no longer be leaking breast milk, boy was I wrong! My husband and I went to an evening wedding and we left both our 3 year old daughter and our 7 ½ month old son with Grandma & Grandpa. Yippee a night out for Mom & Dad! Oh how the little things excite me.
Before leaving of course I nursed my son and pumped any remaining milk so he could have it later. I was feeling wonderful with my “empty” breasts in my little black dress….Oh my God! I can fit into my little black dress….another celebration! The wedding ceremony was lovely and the reception was a lot of fun. You know the saying, “time flies when you are having fun,” well that is exactly what happened and before I knew it it was almost 11:00pm.
I was sitting at a table chatting with a friend and suddenly I felt that my dress was wet. I looked around and wondered if I accidentally spilled some water on myself, but I realized that was not possible because there was no water near me. I was confused, how did my dress get wet? Then it happened, my arm brushed against my breast and I felt the source of the wetness. I glanced down and holy cow my boobs were huge, so huge that they were leaking through my dress! I took a quick look around the room to see if anyone had noticed the geyser of breast milk that was erupting from my bosom. Luckily, my dress was black and oh thank goodness, the lights were just dimmed for dancing. I wrapped up my conversation and found my husband. He took one look at me, I mean my boobs, and he knew that it was time for us to leave.
I look back at this episode and laugh. What could have been a very embarrassing moment turned out to just be my baby’s way of telling me it was time to come home.
